Los Angeles Chinatown

While the Chinatown here in Los Angeles is not as sprawling as either New York, or San Francisco, it is still a vibrant, visually stimulating area that is worth a trip to see, especially during the week when it is a lot less crowded.

Pagoda style buildings and (faded) red lanterns all invite you in to explore the shops and restaurants in a small city block area.

Outside of that, the streets are lined with small markets selling a wide variety of things from medicinal herbs and teas, to back scratchers and plastic jade dragons. There is an almost hidden, enclosed market area that snakes and wanders endlessly where you will find clothing, shoes, luggage and toys. Be aware though that the shops are much like those in tourist cities in Mexico where the vendors will follow you around a bit too far into your personal space. GET OUT OF MY BUBBLE, WOMAN!

We always enjoy visiting but have never made it over that way at night, which I expect would be jaw droppingly amazing since many of the buildings and signs have neon lights all over them.

Anyway, enjoy the shot - till next time :)
